We hope you're all very eager to create and submit your entries!
TO TELL A STORY
The theme of this contest is to tell a story, which is vague, but also very to-the-point. All artwork tells a story whether it intends to or not, as we all interpret what we wish to, when we see it. Your goal for this contest is to create a piece of art, with a specific story in mind. It can be your story, the story of someone you know, it can be fictional, it can be short, it can be sad, it can be happy. It can be anything! Be creative, unique, think outside of the box, or go to the basics. But your story must match the art you create to go with it (unless it is a literature submission in which obviously the writing is the story in itself).

My deviantART StoryFor celebrate deviantArt's 14th birthday I also write a journal like everyone else.
I haven't any interesting stories. I just would like to thanks to maxyvert and Ayayou to show me what dA is. When I was 14 I joined the site and I'm really glad because I learnt a lot of things and met nice people and good friends.
Thanks to every watcher who following my gallery and supporting my work. I love you all! I hope you'll like my works in the future, too. I try to give my best. I also hope I'll meet new faces and make friendships.
I also would like to thanks to my first "dA friends" for being my friends.

What is a DD-worthy artwork and how to make one?First of all, this is a personal opinion! I'm writing what I think about this topic.
I thought it would be nice to make a journal with this theme, however I haven't any DD instead I usually suggest works. Sometimes they got feature, sometime they don't. Also, I'm in the GetDailyDeviation group as moderator and I see a lots of people with lots of style on deviantArt who wants to get this "award-like-thing".
• Then why got so many deviation decline?
There are so many possibility. It can depends on the knowledge behind the artwork. CVs won't feature something what looks like half-done because it hasn't any background, or has many mistakes in anatomy, perspectives, compositions, etc.
Although it also can depends on the taste of the CVs.
Some useful tips
• Notice the Thing
The thing is the style of a DD. What is a "DD worthy" piece? If you look through all of the D

Interview with MaxyHere is the next part of my new project, featuring comic artists. This time let me introduce you, maxyvert As we already know she has nice and unique style and interesting comics with lovely characters and stories. Let's see.
♣ Let's start simple. Please, could you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hi, I'm maxyvert from a little country,Hungary. I'm 21 and currently attending to an art university. I like making comics and illustrations one day I'd like to make a fully hand-painted comic.
♣ What inspired you to make comics?
When I was 9, I started to read W.i.t.c.h. magazines, and I really liked the style and the story so I wanted to make similar things.
Creating your own MangaIntroduction
You have a great story, a bunch of characters and you want to create a manga. However, where do you start? Do you have it Left->Right or Right->Left? How should you publish it (*note: some publishers may have additional requirements/restrictions)?
The process is pretty much the same for any graphic progression such as comics.
Luckily, there are a great number of tutorials to help you on your way.
A storyboard is a panel or series of panels which detail the sequence of significant events in a planned scene, i.e. a rough sketch coupled with some words to describe the actions in the scene.
At this point you'd need to have an idea of whether you are making a left->right or right->left manga.
Photoshop tutorial- PS basics 4I'm back with my journal tutorials for Photoshop. I didn't post any new journal tutorial in a while. Anyway, my previous tutorial you can check here. I'll describe some Photoshop basics for everyone who try to learn to use Photoshop. So in this article you'll find tutorials: Tilt-Shift, Customizing brush 2, Lens Flare, Mask Tool,.
If you wish to see images in full resolution then simply click on the images below (they are big 1920 x 1080 px). I used Photoshop CC here, so some things may be different in lower PS versions. But most of things may be the same in all PS versions. I'll make even more tutorials like this, so stay tuned. And if you like it, then you can fav this article. Thank you and enjoy. I hope it's helpful. More tutorials by me you can see in feature below.
PE: How to Scan and Adjust ImagesTutorial Time: How to scan and adjust images on Photoshop!
Hello everyone, welcome to this tutorial article of PE week!
well, you know, there is this youtube channel where there's lots of videos regaring tips, tricks and general advice for artists, and it is the best I've seen of the kind. But sadly, it is only in portuguese - hence why cinyu came up with the great idea of getting me to translate one of their videos!
I decided to pick up this one regarding scanning and adjusting images on photoshop, because that is one of the most basic, yet worst parts for many traditional artists. This tutorial is mostly for scanning black and white works, so it'll be more useful if you're working on manga/comic pages or inked art, but I hope it'll give you some ideas and help out in general on how scanning works.
I'll be translating the most important parts of the video, along with screenshots. Let's get started!
Things you'll need:
When It's HardHi folks! I realized in my most recent round of blogs that I've been a little quick to tell you all to put on your grown up panties, but this one is going to be a little different. Making art can be one of the most exhilarating things you'll ever do, but (and this is from personal experience also) 80% of the time you're going to fail. You'll spill your ink all over that glorious drawing. Oil from your hands will permanently stain only the portion of paper that was meant to remain a snowy white. Your computer's hard drive will crash or all your image files (all the WIPs especially) will get corrupted. You'll try something new and it just won't work out the way you envisioned. These things are the parts that aren't really spoken about enough, and so when they happen to us we assume that we're doing something terribly wrong. I'm here to tell you that we all go through these things and there's always a solution!
When you're not improving

How to render MMD videos like a pro!
The DeviantArt MMD community is notorious for its drama and mini-conflicts. It has also been the one in which I've encountered some of the rudest people on the Internet. However, I have also been rather fortunate in being able to become acquainted with some of the nicest, talented and knowledgeable people I've ever encountered anywhere. Many of these have graced my gallery with their visits, comments, encouragement and attentions. And a few, perhaps some of the most talented, have graciously given me access to hard to get models, exclusive previews of their MMD work and even insights into their methods of doing things.
Occasionally, I am gifted with real gems and this was the case when garmus1 dropped a note in my inbox the other night. Apart from the depth of knowledge that he gives into his methods, he's also given me permission to share that knowledge with the rest of the community.
Now, I know that some of you will have, after reading only
